"Blu picked up music at age six and began recording herself on a karaoke machine that her mother gifted her for the holidays. She then followed in her aunt’s footsteps by joining the youth choir at Rock of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in South Central LA , and often tagging along with her father to the recording studio.

Blu’s mother introduced her to R&B at a young age, especially the likes of Amerie, Jill Scott, and, Keyshia Cole which led her to some of her musical influences.
